Adoption News Roundup

This incredible photo series from one very talented mother shows, with such poignancy, that true love knows no boundaries. These two sisters, while not biological, are each other’s closest friends and the sweet, tender moments she captures between them are absolutely priceless.

This is sweet! Looking for a fun, unique way to announce your adoption? These parents had some pretty cute ideas…

What about food? A very interesting article about the behaviors kids adopt when they grow up in a situation where there is a food shortage. Hoarding, hiding, gorging…if your child grew up somewhere with scarce conditions, this is definitely worth a read. “Adoptive parents who open their home and hearts to nurture a child in need may feel aggravated, annoyed, or confused to find food and empty wrappers stashed and hidden away under pillows and in dresser drawers. With consistent and loving reminders there is plenty of food in their new home, this behavior will more often than not easily subside. Infrequently, a child may eat very little, but a great variety. The sheer abundance and variety of foods makes choosing a ‘snack’ an overwhelming experience for a child. They may want one bite of yogurt, an orange slice, a granola bar, leaving much behind and frustrating parents about the ‘waste.’ It’s important, always, to realize this behavior will pass.”

So touched by this piece that brings great humanism to a disorder not understood by many. Those beautiful, smiling faces show we have a lot to learn. We’re thrilled to see Parents Magazine spreading such a powerful message.

This family adopted a nine year old girl who had never had a birthday party…so they decided to recreate her first nine birthdays for her. So amazing.

We are dying laughing at these “facts” that 25 mothers found out on Mother’s Day. Did you discover any such realizations about yourself that weekend as well?

We love this father’s observations of the modern family, and his redefinition of what family means today. No matter what kind of family you have, we’re sure you’ll agree.
