Adoption News Roundup

Happy Sunday!

We hope you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Ours wasn’t quite long enough. But is it ever?

Here are some of the features and stories we enjoyed over the weekend. Fresh inspiration for a new week!

What happens when you grow up in a culture entirely different than yours? This adoptee talks about her journey towards “becoming African African” after growing up in a white community.

Thank you to these 9 birth mothers for sharing their stories. We’re always eager to read more birth mother stories, and to share their journeys with the world. Some have endured unspeakable cruelty, others feel at peace with their decision, all were courageous and brave and deserve compassion and support.

Same-sex couples can now adopt in all 50 states! We’re overjoyed. This is a huge step for equality in adoption.

Who you are after your adoption process is different than the person you were before. There are things you know that your pre-adoption self could never have understood. This adoptive mama shares what she’d tell her pre-adoption self…do any of these ring true?

What about birth grandparents?

What I want you to know about adopting siblings.

Summertime is almost here! Do you know how to remove a tick from your child?

Do you have a partner or spouse who is reluctant about adoption? Adoptive Families is tackling this challenging subject with a special webinar on 4.12. Bonus: if you’re not available that day, no worries! They’ll send you a link so that you can view the webinar at a time that’s most convenient for you.

Love this imaginative feature from PBS sharing three ways to keep your kids curious. Curiosity stimulates their knowledge centers, makes them question the world around them, and ignites their imagination. To curiosity!

And while you’re at it…why not encourage a bit more creativity as well?
