Christmas Milk

We couldn’t help but to tear up when we watched this video about a little boy’s “Christmas Milk” and his adoptive family’s quest to turn it into a reality. Joey was adopted by his parents Shane and Heidi in December of 2008 — he kept asking for a drink that he had in foster care and after many attempts, they gave him egg nog, which he happily identified as “Christmas Milk.”

They were so touched by this that they decided to personalize and market the drink, donating 10% of its proceeds to Second Chances, an adoption program in Fort Worth, Texas. Kroger’s was the first store to carry Christmas Milk, and now it’s sold in multiple grocery stores throughout the state. There’s a video on WFAA.com that shares their journey — what it was like to adopt Joey and the process behind developing Christmas Milk.

We love adoption stories inspired by the season, and we’re definitely going to be looking for Christmas Milk at our grocery store!
