Are you a Dancing With The Stars fan? If so, you might know the beautiful Michaela DePrince, who is an orphaned African ranked “number 27” at her orphanage in Sierra Leone. As the “lowest, worst of the children” she received “the least amount of food, the least amount of clothes,” and the least amount of attention. She recently graduated from the American Ballet Theatre’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, and was a guest artist for the South African Ballet Theatre. Here’s a wonderful article about how far she’s come, as well as a video from Dancing With the Stars that tells more of her story.
Definitely a woman to share with your children — this is a poignant reminder of how you can change your life with strength, perseverance, and a big beautiful heart.
