Adoption Blogs to Bookmark
For those in the adoption world, there’s something incredibly powerful about having the opportunity to hear each other’s stories. While you’re going through adoption — as an adoptive parent, birth parent or adoptee — it can feel like you’re the only one in the world having this experience. As with any niche situation, those who haven’t been through it can’t relate in the same way as those who have. (This is not to say that friends and family who haven’t been through adoption aren’t an incredible support, though!)
One of the best ways to connect with the stories of others is through those brave and eloquent writers who candidly share their experiences via personal blogs. We love adoption bloggers. It’s so easy to lose yourself in their worlds, in these stories that, in many ways, may feel very similar to our own. We’re always looking for bloggers to support. Here are a couple of our current favorites — we definitely recommend adding them to your blog roll!
Goggy Coffee: transracial adoption from a father’s perspective! And with no shortage of humor.
An Infertile Blonde: For those who are unable to have children and have been through the devastation of infertility struggles, An Infertile Blonde found family through adoption, and speaks openly about her experience every step along the way.
Welcome to My Brain: Christine Moers is a mother of five by adoption and birth. She and her husband Michael adhere to a parenting style called “therapeutic parenting.” “That means they parent in a way that creates a healing environment for their kids who need that – setting them up for more success than failure.” A passionate woman and blog with some beautiful, honest insights about the trials, tribulations and absolute joys of parenting.
Gold to Refine: A couple blog about their life as adoptive parents who struggled with infertility. Each of their children also have a special need, making them a great resource for parents who are also struggling with a similar situation.
Kimchi Mamas: Love this blog from a community of women who blog together about their experiences raising Korean-American children. And how can you not fall in love with that blog name?!
Ethnically Incorrect Daughter: the blog of a Vietnamese adoptee now living in the United States who shares many of her struggles around feeling displaced as an Asian woman growing up in a very small town in Texas. Her prose is honest and her thoughts provide powerful insight into the world and mind of an adoptee.
