Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to spreading awareness about the children all across the world desperately in need of homes and families. They are advocates for these children, and they work hard to spread knowledge about the foster and adoption industries and the millions of children needing a home and a family.

They also sponsor a Foster Youth Internship program, which is a Congressional internship for young adults who have spent time in the foster care system. Not only do they research policy affecting foster children, but they also work to help affect a positive impact on foster youth law while inspiring congressional change.

At the Foster Youth Internship Congressional Briefing, many of these students spoke about issues in the foster care system as well as their own experiences. Below is a video of the briefing – it’s incredibly inspiring to see young adults passionately speaking about the foster and adoption system, while working so hard to make changes.

If you know of any foster youth, or formerly fostered children, who might benefit from such a program, we urge you to share this information and to encourage them to get involved. Or you can volunteer!
