Favorite Adoption Bloggers
We love adoption bloggers. Not only do they share so many great parenting tips and inspiring stories about the adoption world, but it’s nice to read and support those who are also touched by adoption. Here are a few of our current favorites – add them to your blog roll!
Rage Against the Minivan: Kristen Howerton is the mother of four children, both biological and adopted, and she pens an amazing blog about the joys and trials of parenting, including many hilarious stories that any parent can relate to. Love her!
Portrait of an Adoption: Carrie Goldman’s blog on adoption and contemporary culture is a wonderful read, and she’s won many accolades for her work as a blogger. She has a special interest in bullying, and is the author of Bullied: What Every Parent, Teacher and Kid Needs to Know About Ending the Cycle of Fear (Harper Collins, 2012).
Lavender Luz: A huge advocate of open adoption, Liz Holden is “passionate about de-freakifying open adoption and ending discrimination against adoptees.” She is also the author of the book, The Open-Hearted Way to Open Adoption.
My Thoughts Through the Journey of Adoption: This is a powerful blog written by a woman who has struggled with infertility for six years, and just recently made the decision to adopt. Her poignant, personal musings on the adoption process will ring true with every adoptive parent.
Mama C and the Boys: Written by a single mother by choice who has created her own transracial family through open adoption and sperm donation, Mama C writes with such joy about her family and their life. It’s so special to see all the many, diverse ways families can be created.
Letters to a Birth Mother: Originally started by an adoptive mother who was in a a semi-open adoption that felt closed, she blogged to share with her child’s birth mother, “Mama N,” all the things she wanted her to know about her child and what they wanted to know about her. Since beginning the blog her adoption has become fully open, and she continues to write about her story. Very inspiring writing from a very real family.
Who are some of your favorite adoption bloggers? Post them in the comments on Facebook…we’d love to know who you’re reading right now!
