Russians Protest US Adoption Ban
Putin’s ban of adoptions between Russia and the US has captured the emotions of the entire world. Not only have Americans been up in arms, but recent footage of Russians protesting the ban show that we are not the only ones concerned about the wellbeing of the orphans left in the limbo of the adoption system.
Other stories about the ban, and families affected by it:
This couple is still planning on heading to Moscow to pursue the adoption of the special needs child they had began prior to the ban.
The NY Times wrote about the protests depicted in the video above. “They expected that, as usual, we would swallow it, keep quiet,” Ms. Rostova said. “We have had two weeks to think about this law, and not everyone understood right away, but as time passed, people realized what it means to leave invalids, sick children, in Russia, where there is no help. Everyone knows what kind of medicine we have here.”
Americans are losing opportunities for adoption. What do we do now?
