Spreading the Love
Every day we are amazed by the incredible organizations out there working tirelessly to support the adoption and foster worlds, through charity and social work, spreading awareness, journalism, and so much more. We don’t want to keep these amazing resources to ourselves, so here’s a list of some of our favorites and quick run-down on what they do:
AdoptUSKids: This is a national photo listing service dedicated to helping children find homes through adoption. They take such special care to capture the personalities of the children they work with, and there is so much heart and soul to their dedication. Their children tend to be older, and as these are the kids that have more of a difficult time finding placement, we’re also touched to see them giving these kids as strong a voice as possible.
Adoption.net always has super insightful articles written by birth mothers, adoptees and adoptive families alike, which touch on some of the most important issues in adoption. They have an article for pretty much anything, so they’re always a great go-to if you’re looking to do some research, or just to hear what other adoptive families and birth families have to say about important topics.
Adoptive Families magazine has one of the most comprehensive adoption sites there is…this should be bookmarked and could easily be checked daily for uncovering a wealth of fascinating new information. They also have some very active discussion boards, which are a great resource talking directly with others in the adoption world about important issues. There’s so much wonderful knowledge to be had when you go directly to the source and can talk to people who’ve experienced what you’re going through.
We are in love with the mission behind CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates): The mission of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association, together with its state and local members, is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child can be safe, establish permanence and have the opportunity to thrive. How can you argue with that? If you’re looking to volunteer or learn more about how you can help children who desperately need it, this is the organization to go to. They’re game-changers and are doing the type of work that changes lives every day.
BirthMom Buds. This welcoming website is dedicated to providing a support system for for birth mothers and women considering adoption; they even offer a mentoring program, which is such a valuable resource. Their site offers forums for discussion and they also hold an annual retreat. A must-visit resource for those looking to place and in need of community.
Do you have any favorite adoption sites you like to visit, or magazines you enjoy reading? Let us know! We’d love to share with our community!
